Dinner & Conversation: Professor Annette Lareau

What:

A professor of Sociology earning her doctorate degree in UC Berkeley, Professor Lareau studies family life, particularly how “the social position of children  and parents has an impact on the quality of their life experiences.”

 

The courses she teaches at Penn include Intro to Sociology  (SOCI 001) and Field of Methodology of Sociological Research (SOCI 222). Outside of Penn, Professor Lareau has written and received awards for multiple publications and books, and is an active member and previous president of the American Sociological Association.
 

During her conversation, Professor Lareau will be presenting some research that she has done in relation to her topic of discussion: Social Class and Daily Life.
